hendrickson-loc.jpg (45847 bytes) higginson-kahler-loc.jpg (42527 bytes)

This photograph is of John Hendrickson, taken
sometime between 1910 and 1915, probably
in 1912. Hendrickson won the very first NYAC
Singles Amateur Championship of America
 in 1905.

This photo, taken in 1912, shows Ben Higginson
and Henry Kahler. Ben won the
Singles Amateur Championship of America in 1912 and Kahler won the title in 1911. Notice the Harvard sweater worn by Higginson. He was the trapshooting team captain in 1910, probably his senior year.

topperwein-loc.jpg (94245 bytes)

Shooting action at the NYAC at Travers
Island, NY, probably in 1912. The event was the second most important shoot of the year for over a half of century.

Newly found photo of a very young
Plinky Topperwein, taken between 1910
and 1915. Notice the shooting pouch she
is wearing. It was given to her by an
Indian Chief and became her trademark
wearing apparel until she died in 1946. Annie Oakley called her the greatest lady shot of all time, including herself.
